How it is calculated
Total dose = dose (per kg) × body weight (kg)
Volume (mL) = total dose ÷ concentration
A % (w/v) solution contains that many grams per 100 mL, so 1% = 10 mg/mL.
Worked example
A 10 kg dog, 0.2 mg/kg, 5 mg/mL → 2 mg total = 0.4 mL.
